  • REVIEW PROCESS: The Chemung County Executive's Office will consider all applications received by the deadline. Scholarships will be awarded based on a complete review of application materials to candidates with applications that best demonstrate eligibility, commitment to an environmental career path, and academic success.  The Chemung County Executive's Office will be the sole decision-maker on granting scholarships and is authorized to withhold scholarships if there are no qualified applicants.

  • Eligibility Requirements:

    The scholarship is available to selected, college-bound, graduating high school seniors or undergraduate college students who: 

    • have been accepted into a recognized (registered) college-level program of study,
    • leading to an environmental-related associate or bachelor’s degree,
    • are residents of Chemung County,
    • are U.S. citizens or possess permanent resident visas at the time of application; and
    • can demonstrate academic proficiency.

    Award:

    The Chemung County & Casella Waste Environmental Studies Scholarship. Scholarship will provide $2,500 scholarships to students who reside in Chemung County and are committed to college-level study in the fields related to environmental science, environmental engineering, agriculture, or waste management.

    Timeline:

    Application Deadline - Friday, May 1, 2026
    Awarding Period - End of May 2026
